Your Greener Path: Eco-conscious Living for the Environmentally Aware

The purpose of this website is to give you tools for your personal journey toward a more eco-conscious lifestyle. Some of the many topics that will be covered here include: outdoor recreation, nature study, greener homes, homesteading, natural health and healing, nature spirituality, food and the environment, and nature and the arts. Feel free to peruse the material for those things nearest and dearest to your own heart. May this site help you to experience the kind of life you want to live.

The reason I call this “Your Greener Path” is because no matter where we are in discovering our relationship with Nature, we always have room for growth. Thus this discovery is more a journey than a destination. The “your” part of the title stems from my philosophy that it is my job to help you to create your own path.

This site will help you make conscious decisions on your own greener path. This means recognizing that you’re responsible for the kinds of habits, behaviors, and beliefs you currently hold, but you’re also in charge of deciding the depth and breath of change you will take on.

Living an eco-conscious lifestyle can be hard work. It takes time, consistency, and patience. In a culture that is newly awash with slogans like “think green” it can be difficult for those trying to achieve a genuine connection to sort through the greenwashing and misinformation out there. If you’re more interested in following the green trend, shallow quick fixes that make you appear more eco-friendly, this isn’t the place for you. This site is designed for people who are serious in committing to an earth-centered lifestyle.

While I practice recycling, I’m committed to keeping my content new. You’ll get the benefit of recipes that I’ve personally tried and practices that I know work from personal and professional experience. My goal is to present to you only free, quality information that you can make your own.

This site can’t teach you to be in perfect alignment with Nature. That isn’t the point. There are several reasons for this; (1) there is no one way to be in alignment (one approach might not resemble another); (2) no one can learn by text alone, active engagement is key to learning anything; and (3) I don’t know what perfect alignment with Nature even looks like, I’m still walking. This site can offer advice, describe methods, and help you to build your own tools for eco-awareness. It will very likely help you to find your own greener path.

Themes of Your Greener Path:

  1. Your greener path is something that you own. You are responsible for the strides you do or do not take. You control what your path looks like. Some things on this site will help you in the development of your path, but you shouldn’t feel as though you have to follow anything that isn’t right for you.
  2. Eco-awareness isn’t an all-or-nothing proposition. Taking even small steps that you can stick with is a valuable and significant approach. It is unsustainable to take steps that are not enjoyable to you, you’re not ready for, or are just too large for you.
  3. Action is the better part of valor. You’ll find that Your Greener Path is very action-oriented. I will describe behaviors and recipes and approaches. Why? Because action is what brings about change. It is the action of individuals that shape the status quo. If we want to see a better future, we must shape it. Also, I’ve read and read and read about topics related to Nature. It wasn’t until I put to action what I read that I truly learned.

Where to Begin?

This site is continually growing. I will be actively studying, experimenting, and writing to produce quality articles for you. The subject of eco-awareness is broad enough that if you don’t find something that meets your interest right away, it won’t be long until you find something that speaks directly to you. So feel free to bookmark this page and return often.

At the top of this page you will see “Home” – where you are right now. To the right of that you will see “Newest Content” where you will find a drop down menu for the newest content in the three main media: the Your Greener Path Blog, which contains the newest written content, the Your Greener Path Podcast, where you will find audio programs, and the Your Greener Path Vidcast, where you’ll find our videos.

Other features you may wish to explore follow after this. In the “Interact” section, you’ll find a place to take polls and surveys and a place to follow links. In the “Categories” section, you’ll find the archived articles and blog entries organized by subject for easy searches.

A good place to start is by perusing the articles under the subject links most relevant to you and your interests, you’ll quickly find useful content. If you’d like an overview of the subjects, I describe them here:Closer to Nature: Avenues of Approach. Good luck with discovering your own greener path!
